Waggoner Computerized Color Vision Test
FAA-Required Computerized Color Vision Testing for New Pilot Applicants
Service Description
The Waggoner Computerized Color Vision Test (CCVT) is an FAA-approved computerized color vision screening test used to evaluate an applicant’s ability to safely distinguish aviation signal colors. Color vision testing is required for all first-time FAA medical certificate applicants. At Seattle Aviation Medical , the CCVT is performed in a private, physician-only office using the official Waggoner testing system accepted by the FAA for aviation medical certification. The Waggoner CCVT may be appropriate for pilots or air traffic control applicants who have difficulty passing traditional Ishihara color plate testing or who need an FAA-accepted alternative color vision screening method. The computerized format provides standardized testing conditions and improved consistency compared to older printed plate tests. Testing is available for: FAA Class 1, 2, and 3 medical applicants First-time student pilot applicants Pilots seeking reconsideration after prior color vision testing difficulty Air traffic control applicants The exam is performed by an FAA-designated Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) in a quiet, appointment-only office with flexible scheduling, including early morning, evening, and weekend availability.
